Good Things Psychology

A space to feel heard, understood and supported.

Finding the right psychologist can feel like a big step, and I know how important it is to find someone you feel comfortable with.
My hope is that from our very first conversation you'll feel heard, understood and able to be yourself.

A little about me

Outside of work, life is a little slower. You'll often find me walking my greyhound, Shorty, enjoying a good coffee, spending time with family and friends, or making the most of a sunny Melbourne day.
I'm naturally curious and love learning, whether that's through professional development, keeping connected to academia as a Teaching Associate at Monash University, a good podcast or discovering a new crafty hobby.I believe in practising what I encourage my clients to do: making time for the things that help us recharge, stay connected and enjoy everyday life.

My Approach

I don't believe there's one right way to do therapy.Every person brings their own story, strengths and challenges, so I take the time to understand what matters most to you. My role isn't to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you to better understand what's happening and help you move towards the life you want.
Above all, I hope you leave each session feeling heard, understood and with a clearer sense of where to go next.

Experience

Before becoming a psychologist, I worked as a Chartered Accountant across a range of industries. Although it was a very different career, it gave me an appreciation for the many pressures we balance in everyday life.Since transitioning into psychology, I've worked across private practice and school settings, supporting adolescents and adults through a broad range of mental health challenges.I continue to enjoy learning and regularly undertake professional development to ensure my practice reflects current evidence and best practice.

FAQs

Do I need a referral?

No. You don't need a referral to book an appointment. If you'd like to claim a Medicare rebate, you'll need a valid Mental Health Care Plan and referral from your GP.

Can I claim a Medicare rebate?

Yes. If you're eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), Medicare currently provides a rebate for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year.To access the rebate, you'll need a referral from your GP. If you're unsure whether you're eligible, your GP can discuss this with you. After each appointment, payment is made in full on the day and, for eligible clients, your Medicare rebate will be processed electronically and paid directly into the bank account linked to your Medicare account.

How does a Mental Health Care Plan work?

A Mental Health Care Plan is prepared by your GP if they believe psychology would be beneficial for you. Most people are initially referred for up to six sessions. After these sessions, I'll prepare a brief progress report for your referring doctor. You'll then need to return to your doctor for a review before they can refer you for any remaining sessions available under your plan.If you're planning to continue using your Medicare rebate, it's a good idea to book your GP review after your sixth appointment so there isn't a delay in your ongoing care.

Can I use my NDIS funding?

Yes. I welcome referrals from participants with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS funding.I provide both psychological therapy and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is all about getting to know you. We'll talk about what's brought you to therapy, your goals, any questions you might have, and begin developing a plan together. There's no expectation to have everything figured out before you arrive.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone's situation is different, so there's no set number of sessions. Some people are looking for support with a specific challenge, while others benefit from longer-term therapy. We'll regularly review your goals together and decide what feels most helpful for you.

What if I'm not sure we're the right fit?

Finding the right psychologist is important, and it's okay if it takes time.If you're unsure before booking, please feel free to get in touch with any questions. If, at any stage, you feel another psychologist may be a better fit, we can talk about that too. My priority is making sure you receive the support that's right for you.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is important, and what we discuss during sessions is confidential. There are some situations where psychologists are legally or ethically required to share information, such as where there is a serious risk of harm or when required by law. If this ever arises, I'll discuss it with you wherever possible.

What happens if I need to cancel?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 48 hours notice.Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, or not attended, may incur 75% of, or the full session fee.
